As North Korea prepares for Kim Jong-il’s funeral on Wednesday, Scott Snyder of the Council on Foreign Relations looks ahead to other milestone events that could provide a glimpse of Kim Jong-un’s durability as North Korea’s new leader. They include the North Korean leadership’s annual new year’s message (Jan. 1), Kim Jong-un’s birthday (Jan. 8), Kim Jong-il’s birthday (Feb. 16) and Kim Il-sung’s centennial (April 15).
